Forgive me if I this question has been posted and I failed to find it.
My Mom recently helped out with a friend's daughter's wedding. She cooked much of the food, including all of the desserts (she paid for all ingredients) and served the food at the wedding. She was even asked to watch the kids of the bridal party (tacky, we know!), so she was definitely seen as the "help."
Our question is, does she need to purchase a gift for the bride and groom? Instincts tell us yes, but we thought we’d ask the experts!
Thanks!

Was she an invited guest who offered to help out or what? Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Good question. I think it was assumed that she'd be attending the wedding and plans to use her help were in the works before the official wedding invitation arrived.

I'd say that her gift was all that she did for them. Hopefully they sent her a thank you note. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
