We went and registered last weekend, but I had second thoughts about the china so we switched to a new china pattern. So a few days later we went back and changed to a different pattern. But, the mother of a friend had already purchased an item from the first selection of china.
Normally I wouldn't have a problem keeping quiet about it, and taking the gift back to exchange it, but she (the buyer) is hosting a bridal shower next month. I'm afraid somebody will show up at her party and give my fiancee a piece from our new china pattern. I just don't want her to feel embarrassed or upset.
Should we let her know that we had a change of heart?

Dear Groomtobe,
It may best to let her know although we don't normally mention a problem with a gift. In this case, she might be embarrassed if she found out at the shower.
