Thank you wording for guest not attending

How do I word a thank you card for guests who send a check and will not be able to attend? Do I mention the gift they gave us a year ago for our town hall wedding?

Dear Thanking,

Just tell the giver how generous you think he or she is. A thank you note is handwritten for all gifts when the gift is received. So hopefully you wrote one at the time you received the previous gift. You wouldn't mention it in this note.

Best wishes,
