     Timeframe for cashing checks

Hello,

I don't believe this has been answered, my apologies if it has. What is an exceptable timeframe for the bride and groom to cash checks that have been given as gifts? In the past, this hasn't been a problem, but a wedding I went to about 5 weeks ago has not yet been cashed. Is there any way to politely ask them to cash my gift so I can balance my checkbook?

Thank you for your time,

Amy

Dear Amy,

Checks should be cashed as soon as they are received, but not spent until after the ceremony. They really should have cashed them and sent you a thank you note.

It may be best to contact them to make sure they received it. Sometimes these are lost.

Best wishes,
