In early April I was invited to a bridal shower which will take place in late May and I know the wedding is early in July. With the bridal shower invitation came three department store registry cards. I have chosen a gift I would love to give as a wedding present, but I am afraid that if I wait a few months when it is closer to the wedding date it may be purchased by someone else. What is the earliest I can have a wedding gift sent to the address listed on the registry... is it ok to do it now even before the bridal shower and the arrival of the wedding invitation?
You are a gracious person. To choose the perfect gift and think of the appropriate timing to send it... Thank you.
Because you haven't received the wedding invitation yet, it would be best to send the gift one month before the wedding. You could purchase it now and ask the store manager if it could be sent at the appropriate time. Often they will. If not, you could purchase it now and send it later (UPS will package it nicely).
Now on to the shower invitation arriving with three department store registry cards. This puts the guest in a difficult position and is considered tacky. Please, to those of you out there, do not do this.
Yes, we want to shower the bride with gifts at her shower. However, when the gift registry is mentioned in any of the invitations, it is as begging for gifts and telling the guests where and what they should purchase. The best way to 'get the word out' is by word of mouth. The bride's friends and bridesmaids are usually responsible to make sure everyone knows where the bride and groom have registered.
