Website that contains link to registry - bad idea?
I'm considering using a free personal wedding website that contains a registry link. Potential guests will be directed to the the website in my mailed invitation so they can R.S.V.P. and learn more about myself and my fiance, wedding location, accommodations, etc. One of the links included is the one to the online registry, which takes guests to the different online stores we've registered with.
I've read that it's in poor taste to even hint to a registry in an invitation or other written form. I won't make mention of it in our invite, but any guest who goes to our website will see the registry link. Is this in poor taste?
Thank you!

Dear Registry Info,
This is a gray area because the websites are so new. So, we have to think of this as if we are the guest. What would be offensive to them? To be bombarded with registry info is not positive.
So, it best not to mention on the invitation. If you include an enclosure with this information, that would be fine. Better yet a separate notice about it, such as email notification or Save the Date card well in advance of your wedding is preferable.
If you include this information in your invitation, be sure to have your registry links on a separate page and not the focus of the first page.
