Wedding and shower gift-how much is enough?

I went a bit nuts on the shower gift for a friend, and am now wondering what the appropriate amount is to give for the wedding. Is there a guide to combined or total gift?

There is no formula for how much to spend on wedding gifts. A wedding gift is expected, but, the choice of gift should be based on your relationship with the couple and your budget. It does not have to be a monetary gift. You could select an affordable keepsake type gift or you can even craft something like a wedding album, if you have the time and talent. If you;re intent on giving money then give an amount you can afford to give.
