Wedding gift for just the groom?

Hi, My brother is the best man at a friends wedding. He knows he is to buy a gift for the married couple, but is it proper etiquette to also buy a gift for just the groom as well?

Dear Xhilerated,

He may contribute to one group gift to the couple. He doesn't have to give one only from himself.

He doesn't have to give more than one gift and this could be a group gift.

Best wishes,
