asking for money as a wedding gift

Im getting married in September and we don't need the usual gifts (blenders, toasters etc...) so we would like to ask for money instead as we are going to Reno for our honeymoon. My question to you is, what is the polite way of asking for that ?

I'm sorry, but there is not polite way to ask for money as a wedding gift. Although it is commonplace for guests to give wedding gifts the couple should not expect them and therefore no mention of gifts is proper.

You could register and select the gifts you'd like to receive (this may include gift cards depending on the registry you choose). Then, post your registry on your personal wedding website, if you have one, or spread the word through family and friends about your gift preference.

Best of luck...
