I'm standing in my cousin's wedding and the bridal party (5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen) have decided to go in together for a gift to the bride and groom (a pricey digital camera, with extra memory, and all the bells and whistles). Do I have to still give the couple my own separate gift?
My mom says that I still have to give them my cash gift (we're Italian, so it's the usual gift), but I'm a bit confused. I've already forked over the $300 for the dress, will have to pay for my hair and make up, my own hotel room and all travelling expenses since I live 8hours away from her (which I paid gladly since I knew of the costs when I accepted the position), so is this another expense that I have to add, or is it waived since I put in $75 for the gift?

I'm not familiar with this Italian tradition or what the "usual gift" is, but, in the etiquette world you need only to give one gift. If you've given as a group then that is your gift. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I completely agree. One gift is fine.
Also, the couple should have paid for your lodging. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
