     destination wedding gift

We are invited to a destination wedding in FL, spending over $500 for travel, and I'm in the wedding. The bride & groom are NOT paying for accomodations. Do we need to buy a gift? I did buy something for the shower and bachlorette party.

Dear Paying,

They really should have paid for your accommodations. Sorry. You really shouldn't have paid for a gift for the bacholorette party either. That is not considered a gift giving situation.

The wedding is considered a gift giving situation, but it is your choice to abide by this. So, it is your choice in what you should do.

Honestly, I wish the bride had contacted us about her role in this.

Best wishes,
