food pantry donation in lieu of gifts

This is the second marriage for both of us, is it rude to ask the guests to bring a donation for the local food pantry instead of a gift?

Although this is very generous of you, guests should not be told what sort of gift to bring, or not. So, if anyone asks you can let them know. There really shouldn't be any mention of gifts in invitations or unless asked directly.

Bravo on such a self-less focus. I wish more thought the same. And, I agree with the wonderful advice the Wedding Queen has offered.

Perhaps you could also mention your wishes on a wedding website.
