     gift for parents

is it customary for the groom to purchase a gift for the bride's parents if they helped pay for the wedding?

Dear Ib,

It isn't a must, but a very nice gesture. Parents aren't obligated to pay for anything these days. So, contributing is very generous and rewarding that generousity is polite.

Best wishes,
