how much money to give as a wedding present?

Wow am I lost! My little sister is getting married on a cruise ship in less than a week. This is my first sister to get married at the age of 25. I was thinking of a gift of $1000 from my fiance and I but I'm not sure if that is enough or too much.

What is an appropriate amount of money to give as a wedding present?

Dear Fireodie,

That is a lot of money, or at least it is to me. And, that is the point. Money is probably the worst gift because one amount is generous to some and yet lacking to others. So, there is no magic perfect dollar amount.

Give what you wish to give.

Best wishes,
