     monetary vs. purchased wedding gift

Is is more customary to give a monetary versus a purchased wedding gift when attending a New York wedding?

Dear Godwin,

As far as I know it's still a matter of preference of the giver. I don't know of anything that says New York weddings expect monetary gifts.

I agree. All gifts should reflect the relationship and feelings of the giver to the receiver.
