     wedding gift and shower gift?

Are you supposed to give a shower gift and a wedding gift? what about if you're not invited to the wedding only the reception? Does that make a difference? I need an answer on both! :) thanks!

Dear Anniej,

Only those invited to the wedding are supposed to be invited to the shower. So, if you are invited to a shower and not the wedding, it is not polite. You are not obligated to give a gift to either event. It would be polite on your account to ship a wedding gift to the couple just because you have been invited to the reception. But again, this is optional.

Most give a wedding gift, though, even if only invited to the reception.

Best wishes,
