     wedding present

My husband & i were invited verbally by our close friends to their son's wedding .Its on the beach

You bring your own picnic lunch drink & chairs etc .There was no formal invite from the bride or groom ,His Parent state low cost ?? al we received was a map from the groom's Dad .We are wondering about a wedding present .To us this just seems like a beach party .Are we old fashioned or have things changed this much .

Dear Topsy,

Things haven't changed that much. To ask guests to bring the party is not appropriate. But, they still probably expect a gift. So, this is your choice.

Best wishes,
