Do we have to have gift registries?

I was asked the other day where my wedding registries were. I was surprised at the person's surprised look when I informed her I had no intention of setting up any, in that I just wanted our guests to come. If they wish to give us something, that's fine, but not expected. We are marrying in our mid-forty's and have already acquired the basic creature comforts. I really just want our guests to come and have a good time. This doesn't break any wedding ettiquette rule does it? - Blush

Dear Just Wants to Share the Joy,

No, absolutely not. It is sweet, kind, and courteous. I wish there were more like you. Thank you.

Best wishes,
