Gift as guest of groom's family

Hi,
My boyfriend is a groomsmen at his cousin's wedding and he invited me as his guest. My boyfriend's parents are giving a gift to the couple from the whole family, and my boyfriend said that I will be included in that gift. In addition to that, my boyfriend is buying me a plane ticket to the wedding. I feel uncomfortable that I am not contributing to the travel costs or the wedding gift. My boyfriend refused my offer to chip in money. Would it be ok for me to buy an additional separate smaller gift from my boyfriend and myself? How can I contribute to this wedding without offending anybody? Thanks

Dear Has a Polite Boyfriend,

It is very nice to want to give another gift. However, as a guest you wouldn't be expected to give a gift and your boyfriend should pay your costs because he invited you. Many young men do not know this. You are both very lucky to have such considerate significant others.

You could give a card and offer to help then in any way you could.

Best wishes,
