Registering for gifts for wedding reception

Hello - We just became engaged and are still deciding on which direction to go with getting married. One option if to go to an all-inclusive resort and get married there and return home and have a celebration picnic where we'd probably have about 100 friends and family where we'd have them in a casual setting and have catered food and drinks. Is it appropriate to still register for wedding gifts? I'm already being asked where I'm registering. Thanks for your advice!

Dear New bride-to-be,

You can register and guests can decide for themselves. We never list our registries in our wedding or reception invitations though. We wait for our guests to ask.

Best wishes,
Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
