My fiancé and I have decided not to register, we find it presumptous. The gift we want the most other than being able to spend our lives together is our friends and family enjoying our special day with us. My soon-to-be sister-in-law (whom is getting married two months before us; that is another matter ) says we should register. I am at a loss, we are in our early 30's and have already combined two established homes and had to give away many duplicates. Granted we don't have a lot of money and some of our things are old and hand-me-downs, but the idea of registering just grates my nerves. Any suggestions?

Re: [Euphony] Registry; Is it necessary?

Dear Euphony:
Please don't be concerned about registering for gifts. Many of your friends and family who love you will want to show their care for you by sending a token of their esteem, whether you register or not. The gift registry will help them choose a gift they know you want and will save them some time too; so actually it is a service to your guests more then a plea for gifts.
If you still feel uncomfortable then, by all means, do not register. Just know that your guests will probably want to send a gift which I am sure you will accept graciously and send a note of thanks after the wedding.
