     Same Items / Different Registries

Have you ever heard of registering for the same gifts at different stores? I'm a little confused on how to recommend the purchase of kitchen items and linens and bedding as the couple is registered at different stores (e.g. duvet and dishes at Target are not the same as Bed Bath & Beyond). I suggested only having things registered once, but they seem to think they can simply return them (which they can). I don't understand two different sets of dishes, silverware, duvets, sheets, etc. - am I missing something?

Dear Confuzedmuthr,

People do do this when they want a choice of the same item. So, this must be what they want. The registry is just an outline anyway. Guests choose what they wish to give. Hopefully this isn't just so they can return the item for something else. They certainly can't return items for cash anymore, so that isn't a concern.

Now, as for you recommending what to give, this isn't something you should be doing. Mothers don't recommend others to give to their children, unless others ask your child is registered or what they would like, then you could relay their preferences.

Best wishes,
