What is and is not appropriate

Hello,

I have two friends that are getting married within the next few months. I went online to check out their registries and I was shocked. The first girl registered for sleeping bags, a tent, Seinfeld DVDs, and an Xbox. The other girl registered for toothpaste, teeth whitening strips, shampoo, and conditioner. Is it me or is this totally odd? I thought that wedding registries were supposed to be for things like pots and pans not personal hygiene products and video game consoles?

Dear Shocked,

And the most odd bridal registry award goes to...

I completely agree that this is very strange and odd. I would assume, which is not always a good idea, that these young ladies had some poor advice. Brides should register for items that will help them begin a home. This is not supposed to be a wish list of birthday gifts not received.

I feel for you. I don't have a clue what you will do except purchase the Seinfield DVD and whitening strips.

Too funny! And, only kidding.

In our world, though, you can give any gift you wish to give. It doesn't have to be something from their bizarre registry.

Best wishes,

Agreed...totally weird.

I would select something you feel is a good gift for this person and forget the registry. The best gifts, in my opinion, are those the recipient would never request but might really enjoy having.
