My fiance and I registered recently, and I found myself feeling very guilty about registering for any higher-priced gifts. We have a variety of lower priced items, and only a few expensive ones, but I am scared of being seen as greedy! I simply want to give my guests an idea of what we need in case they are not sure, and I do not want to come across badly. Is there an acceptable ratio of low/high priced gifts? I found some fine china that I absolutely love (and would use; I enjoy entertaining) but have a guilty conscience about registering for 8 or 12 place settings when it is so expensive!

Dear Am,
There is no ratio. Just make sure you register for plenty of lower priced items. Some guests will join together to purchase higher priced items. So, it is fine to include them on the registry.
