     honeymoon registry etiquette

My fiance and I have everything we need for house and home. We are therfore doing a honeymoon registry. We are asking guests to RSVP on our wedding website, where we also have a link to our honeymoon registry. Do the guests find it too strange, new, etc., and therefore bypass it? We're afraid this will happen, and that we'll end up with millions of toasters we don't need and haven't asked for, and no money for our honeymoon.

Dear Needs a Honeymoon,

From the many emails I receive, guests can be a bit turned off by the plea for cash. If they can contribute without their dollar amount known to you, it may make this easier for them.

It is best if your registry information is not mentioned on the first page. Remember the original idea for this vehicle was to share your love story. So, gifts should be a second thought.

If you receive items you don't need, you can always return them for something you do, or donate them to the many needy.

Please remember your thank you notes. This is something I'm hearing from so many guests--that they never hear about the gift they gave.

Best wishes,
