should we do a gift registry for our post elopement party?

My fiance and I are eloping! But unsure of whether or not to do a gift registry for the "reception" party we plan to have once we return home. We know our friends and family will want to bring gifts but since we are being somewhat untraditional, don't want to presumptive. would it be rude or too assuming?

Gifts are given for the wedding, not the reception, even though many guests do send gifts when attending the reception. You can certainly register and, if anyone asks, you can let them know where you are registered.
