     Announcement Etiquette

My fiance and I are getting married across the country (WA) from my hometown (FL) this fall. There are several out-of-town family members, friends, and family friends (from FL) on my side that will not be able to make the trip for one reason or another. In addition, there were several family friends that did not receive invitations.

In the spring, we will be having a reception in FL for everyone who could not attend the wedding. We will be sending invitations to the reception at a later date. My question is; is it appropriate to send wedding announcements to those who did not receive an invitation to the wedding if they are going to be invited to the FL reception? Or, does the reception invitation suffice as an announcement?
