     Announcing Our Son's Elopement

Our son is in the military and soon heading off to his second deployment to Iraq.

He and his girlfriend eloped this last weekend in a small ceremony in Las Vegas (we were there). We are a closeknit family and would like to announce to the rest of our family and all of our friends that he is married, but aren't sure how we should word this. He is also a new dad, as his new wife has a 6-year old son.

Could you give us some help with wording?

Thank you so much.
MortarMansMom

p.s. Also, is it proper to announce this in our local newspaper?

Dear MortarMansMom,

This could be the typical wedding announcement, but it should be your son's decision to send these. So, please make sure he doesn't mind.

The traditional announcement looks like this:

Mr. and Mrs. James Walker

have the honour of

announcing the marriage of their son

Mr. Timothy Earle Jones

to

Cheryl Rae Walker

Date

Location

Please only send these to those who really need to know as some view this as a plea for gifts even though these really are not.

Best wishes,
