     Are wedding announcements necessary?

My daughter will be married in December. Both the bride and groom have some relatives that are out of town that we do not feel we can invite, nor do I feel that they would make the trip. They are aware of the upcoming wedding, but we cannot include them as possible invites due to keeping the numbers down. Is it necessary to still send them an announcement after the wedding, or are announcements only for those who are not aware of the wedding?

Dear Mom2Bride,

Announcements are optional and could be sent to anyone you feel needs to know about the wedding.

Best wishes,
