Can I send announcements to those not invited to wedding?
My boyfriend and I are facing the issue of $. we'll probably have a wedding with approx. 50-75 close friends, but there are many that will be hurt they are not invited. Is there any type of announcement that we could send stating we are getting married, but it's a small ceremony. That way they are hearing from us directly but it's a "sorry we can't invite everyone" type of thing?

Dear Facing the Mighty $,
No, this is confusing and shouldn't be done. It can appear as an invitation or a plea for gifts. So, it is best that if someone asks, you let them know that due to space contraints this will have to be a small affair.
All of us face this. We can't invite everyone we wish--well most of us anyway. So, most everyone understands.
Invitations are sent before the wedding and announcements are sent after the wedding to only those who need to know.

Rebecca,
Once again you have answered a question in our minds about what to do regarding all of the people we cannot invite to our very small wedding. We sure know how Kimber feels! Thank you.
