Giving Wedding Details With Wedding Announcements

I was origanally scheduled to be married in November, but the venue was delayed in opening, so we rescheduled for March. One week before the March wedding, I fractured my hip, and the wedding had to be cancelled. Phone calls were made to all attendees. We rescheduled the wedding for late April, as my fiancee's daughter was traveling out of the country, and we wanted her to be there for the wedding. We down-sized the wedding to family and very few close friends, as the March venue was no longer available. We would like to send out announcements (if appropriate) letting people know we finally got married. I would like to explain the events that took place, but don't want to get too wordy. Can you give some advice as to how I should handle this?

Dear Dldrohr,

Perhaps it would be best not to send formal announcements, as these could be viewed as a plea for gifts, even though this is not the purpose of announcements. Some who receive these are confused by the purpose.

You could email, send informal notes, or verbally inform all who need to know.

Best wishes,
