How long can we wait to put a wedding announcement in the newspaper

My husband and I were married in February 2008 in St. Croix. In March of 2008 we had a large reception for our friends and family. I have procrastinated about putting an annoucement in the newspaper and believe that it is too late. My husband really wants me to put the announcement in the paper and insist that we have a year to do so. Is it too late?

Dear Shanan,

It is too late to post your announcement. I don't know where the year deadline came from. There really is no "year after a wedding" dead-line for much except a reception. We should post the announcement very soon after the wedding. The exact deadline is not exact. But, within a month or even two seems appropriate.

Best wishes,
