My daughter would like (but does not insist) her announcements to read my first name as well as her father's first name on the wedding announcement i.e..
Mr. & (or do you use and) Mrs. John & Jane Smith
She is young and sees it as independent.
I prefer the formal, being older and not feeling lost but privileged in using my husbands name.
Mr. & Mrs. John Joe Smith
Is their a rule for this? Could you please indicate the proper format for both if either is is acceptable.

Actually, many are opting for the less traditional version (using both first names). However, the proper version is the traditional, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Would it be worded:
Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith
or
John and Jane Smith

If you are going with the less traditional, you could use either. But, again the traditonal and most proper is the Mr. and Mrs. John Joe Smith. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
