Should I still send the wedding announcements 4 months after the wedding?

We were married in March of 09, reception is in late august 09. Reception invitations have already been mailed. My husband was in the army when we were married and his family is from another state. His mother has requested that I send announcements to the friends and family who live in the state where he is from and I fear that 4 months is a bit too late. Should I still send the wedding announcements 4 months later?

Dear Spryng,

It is far too late for formal announcements. At this point, she could verbally inform her family when she has contact with them. The same goes for your husband. When he calls a family member, he can tell him or her then.

Anyone invited to the reception wouldn't be receiving announcements anyway. So, those people will know that you two are married by the time they receive the invitations.

Best wishes,
