     Time for announcement

My friends are getting married next month in a mountain chapel where only their immediate families can attend. Is it appropriate to send out announcements for this before the wedding? People know they are getting married and are honoring them (with showers) even though they cannot attend. However, no official written announcement has been given.

Wedding announcements are sent after the wedding takes place.

Showers really should not be hosted unless there are wedding guests.
