     Tricky Wedding Announcement Wording

Hello. My fiance and I are eloping at the beach on May 11th. My fiance's mother wishes us to put both of our families on the wedding announcements. This is difficult because:

1) My parents are divorced and neither are remarried

2) My fiance's father is deceased, and his mother is remarried and wants her name, her husband's name, and my fiance's deceased father's name!

Is there a way to do this or should we just forget it and announce the wedding ourselves?

Thanks for your help.

Dear Tricky,

Unless they are paying for the wedding, you could announce. Even if they were, you would be announcing to only those who really need to know, like family and your business associates who need to know your new name. So, you could still just use your names. But, if you want to allow them to announce, it could be:

Mrs. Jane Walker

Mr. John Walker

and

Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Jones

announce the marriage of

Cheryl Rae Walker

to

Mr. Timothy Earle Jones

also the son of the late XXX

Date

Location

Best wishes,
