Wedding Announcement Wording with Reception Invite

How would you word an annoucement of the wedding and also invite to the reception which will be about 6 weeks after the wedding. The wedding will be small with just the immediate family yet the reception will be very large. It will be an adults only reception. We have thought about calling it a "cocktail reception" but we will have a buffet line. It will be hosted by the couple and both sets of parents.

Dear Khillerman,

You only send announcements to those not invited to either event. Your reception guests do not need to be told you are married as they will know you will be by the time of the reception. So, you would simply send regular wedding reception invitations. No mention of 'cocktail' or 'adults only'.

Send the invitation to those invited and don't mention the children on the envelopes. Some have even gone the extra mile and printed custom response cards with the invited guest's names so they would know that only they are invited.

Best wishes,
