Wedding Overseas when to send invitations?

We are getting married in April in the Dominican Republic. Most guests live in the United States.

We are planning on sending out save the date cards this month. However we are unsure of when we should send out the formal invitations.

We are unsure because we are trying to make all inclusive hotel/ mini vacation arrangments for our guests. I feel that is something we need to do much in advance. The wedding is 6 months from now.

Also do you have any advice on composing information for my guest? We have a suggested hotel and vacation package for them, however we would like give them the options to make thier own packages if they wish to stay longer. Any suggestion on how we may word that? We just dont want to pile everyone with so much information along with the invitation especially since all will not attend. Is there tactful way to mention if they are interested we could than send them more information?

Thank you for time and advice.

Maria

Dear Maria,

Typically you would send them the generic information about the trip and wedding and a number to your travel agent. This way the guest can choose the proper arrangements through an agent and you don't deal with the details. Your agent can mention all of the choices.
