My maiden and his last name are the same. No wedding invites are being issued, however, announcements will be sent out the next day, after a a simple ceremony following regular Sunday church services. How do we avoid the assumption that our announcements are worded incorrectly? Especially since his mother will be sending them to people that really don't know me? Is there any special wording for this? Could you advise me on a formal announcement line for line?

Dear Same Name,

There really is no special way to write these if the last names are the same. Because your wedding is informal, these can be simple handwritten notes or she could simply call family who needs to know.

This is the traditional wording when the parents of the bride announce:

Mr. and Mrs. James Walker

have the honour of

announcing the marriage of their daughter

Cheryl Rae Walker

to

Mr. Timothy Earle Jones

Date

Location

Your future mother in law can list her name for the parent's name.

There can be a notation after your name, such as (not related). But, these definitely could be simple handwritten notes stating that her son married you and that your last names are the same.

Best wishes,
