     invitation etiquette

My brother is getting married in September. He and his fiance have been living together for almost five years and just had a baby in May. They are insisting on having an elaborate wedding. They are getting ready to have their invitations printed this week and have decided to put a picture of their new baby on the invitations. Myself and my family do not think this is a good idea. Isn't that what birth announcements are for? Is this something that people do? Please help soon!!!

Dear Chelseybarnes,

This would be confusing for the guests. They may think that this is a plea for a wedding present and a gift for the new child. There really is no place for a baby picture on a wedding invitation.

I hope that you can talk your brother out of this decision.

Best wishes,
