wedding reception held at different time and state than wedding

My son is getting married in Tennesse in the Fall. He is from MN and we are planning to have a reception later in the winter in MN. What is the proper thing to do? Do we send something in the wedding invitation with an R.S.V.P. telling the guests we are having a meal at the reception or do we send out seperate invitations to the MN reception?

Dear Hope,

You would send separate reception invitations closer to the time of the reception.

Best wishes,
