Addressing a Wedding Invitation to a Widow

Do you address an invitation to a widow using her first name or the first name of her deceased husband, such as:

Mrs. Jane Johnson

or

Mrs. Richard Johnson

Thank you for your (ALWAYS helpful) advice.

Dear All4Her,

Thank you. I'm so glad we have helped you.

The most proper and traditional is to use her deceased husband's first name. But, it is best to ask the lady. Many women in the west prefer to use their first names.

Best wishes,
