     Addressing the invites

Hello! I received my invites today. Enclosed were 'guidelines' on how to address. They say the outer envelope should read Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I always thought you used a first name, for example Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Smith. Which is correct??

The outer envelope should include the first name as well as the last:

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Smith

Miss Sally Smith
