Addressing wedding invitation to MD and a member of the senate
How does one address an invitation to someone who is an MD and a member of the state senate? Should it be Dr. John Doe or The Honorable John Doe, or maybe The Honorable Dr. John Doe?

Dear Stellagirl,
We don't normally use two titles when addressing others. However, this is a different situation. He would be addressed as: The Honorable Doctor John Doe.

Thank you. I was very worried about that. Could I assume that the same applies to addressing an MD who is in the military? Somehow Captain Doctor and Mr. Rodgers doesn't sound right. I wish people didn't have so many titles!
