     Another question about etiquette...

If I am friends with someone but I don't know the rest of their family, would I send the invitation with their spouse and their family on it or just them? For example, if I knew Ann Smith, would I send the invite as:

Mr and Mrs Ann Smith

or...

Mrs Ann Smith

and not include their spouse?

Dear Another Question,

You wouldn't write Mr. and Mrs. Ann Smith. It is a strange rule for these days, but a woman can still be addressed by her husband's name. A man is never addressed by his wife's name--Mr. Ann Smith.

So, if you don't know his first name, you would write: Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It would be best to find out his name though. And, yes. You have to include a spouse.

Best wishes,

Ahh, apparently you got what I meant anyway, even though I asked the question completely wrong. Tongue Thanks!
