     Convalidation Invitation wording

I am trying to find the best wording for my invitations. My husband and I were married civilly and are having a convalidation ceremony on our 1 year anniversary. We are having a tradition mass with reception as if it were a regular first wedding. My parents are helping us pay for a portion of the celebration and I would like to include their names on the invitations. Additionally, I would like to use my maiden name as some of my distant relatives do not know I've been married already. What is the best wording for this situation? Thank you.

Dear Julifree,

I'm sorry; this wouldn't be polite or appropriate as you are already married. This isn't a wedding. This is the same as having your vows blessed. So, it shouldn't appear as a wedding. The same rules for the vow renewal should be followed in this case. Please read more about vow renewal etiquette.

And, you are married, you are a wife, so using your maiden name on an invitation isn't polite. It is not truthful. It just may seem as an insult to your guests.

Please read more about vow renewal etiquette invitations. You could change the vow renewal title for a convalidation ceremony.

The wedding is a gift giving situation, while a vow renewal is not. Creating a wedding like event could be viewed as you want to dress up as a bride and receive gifts. Planning should be done very carefully.

Best wishes,
