     Deceased Parent

My fiance's father died in April. We are going to include my fiance's mother on the invitation for our wedding in October but she (along with us)is concerned about proper etiquette with her name. Should it be Mrs. his name or should it be Mrs. her name. She has always gone by Mrs. his name and is still in mourning, as is to be expected, of the recent loss.

Thanks in advance for your response to this sensitive issue.

Your soon to be mother in law should list her name on the wedding invitation as Mrs. His Name for example:

Mrs. Stephen Smith

Requests the Honor of Your Presence...etc.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of our Top Wedding Questions staff. I am sure this is a bittersweet time for you and your family. I wish you well.
