Do members of the wedding party receive wedding invitation
Our son, age 21 who lives at home with his parents, is a groomsman in his friend's wedding. An invitation to the wedding was received address to our son & family (Mr. Tom Smith & family). Do members of the wedding party usually receive invitations? After all, they are in the wedding so why do they need to receive an invitation. Do we assume from our son's invitation that we are invited? Shouldn't we have received our own invitation? Does the "& family" include all siblings of the groomsman?

Yes, everyone in the wedding receives an invitation. But, the 'and family' is confusing. It is used when the couple doesn't have an inner envelope. But, I always advise against it as guests typically wonder where the 'family' ends--as you have illustrated. Your son could ask who exactly is invited.
