How do I invite the Clergy?

I have already sent my invitations & they are due back form my guests by 05/26. But I did not send one to the clergyman performing the ceremony. We barely know him & I know it is correct etiquette to invite him to the ceremony but we were not sure if we should initially. We have decided to invite & I'm just not sure how to do that. Do I send him an invitation this weekend & giving him until 06/05 to respond? Do I also give him the guest option or just invite him?

You won't need to invite your clergy person to the ceremony since he wil already know he should be there because he is performing the service.

Yes, you should formally invite him and include a guest. We really are only obligated to allow our guests to bring a guest when they are in a relationship. But, you don't know this person well. So, it is probably best to just assume he/she is with someone. If you asked, it may be awkward. Plus, it is just one more person.
