     Husband won't attend wife's coworker's wedding

A co-worker (and friend) of mine is getting married in August. My husband told me that he doesn't want to go to the wedding because he doesn't know her. His name is clearly on the invitation. I think he is "required" to go since he is my husband. I think he automatically signed up to go to these events when he said, "I Do." He thinks differently!

Before I file for divorceWink, Could you please help clear this up? What is the etiquette for a spouse attending a wedding? I feel like it will be totally RUDE for him not to come!!!

Thanks,

Dimpledawg

Dear Dimpledawg,

As much as I would like to say that he is required to attend, because I am a wife as well, he really isn't. He was invited, but it is his decision to attend or no, even if you decide to go. You have a choice as well. You could attend without him.

Sometimes we have different interests. It is nice when our significant others put our interests first, but it isn't obligatory.

Best wishes,
